Fluffy

August is already there and I feel like I haven’t been as productive as I wanted to be during July (except in crocheting) but I’ve been feeling really happy and blessed lately! A lot of good things happened and I hope this lasts :)

My latest work is a plushie of that cute fluffy youkai in the anime Fukigen na Mononokean (you can watch it on Crunchyroll). I saw they made official ones of it but they lacked fluffiness in my opinion so I went out of my way to make one myself… pretty silly but I really wanted one!

The eyes are bigger and the look probably meaner than what the real thing but well, IT’S FLUFFY /kicked. I used Phildar’s Nounours yarn and knitting needles size 5 to make this (impossible to crochet with this kind of yarn, you can’t see anything). The eyes were made with felt. This is also my very first time making something without using someone else’s pattern.

Now moving onto my next project, the other day I remembered seeing those mermaid blankets on Facebook a few months ago and looked them up again to find this awesome pattern by Yarnutopia! It might be quite ambitious but a bit of challenge doesn’t hurt, right? This blanket is amazing, look at how the scales are visible ♥ I’ve always secretly dreamed of being a mermaid too.

I’m looking at yarns right now, it’s really hard to choose colors! I might want something red or brown maybe??

Also, I got those Capcom washi tape sets I ordered on Ami Ami in the mail recently! I still haven’t opened them since I haven’t been taking a good care of my Hobonichi lately but my future entries are going to be the coolest with those hihi

  1. Is Hobonichi another word for a planner? /clueless

    But your youkai is soooo fluffy!! Kudos to you for not using a pattern. And that yarn does look really hard to crochet with.

    1. Well, a Hobonichi is a planner yeah :) it’s just the name of the brand, like Moleskine or Filofax.

      Yeah ;o; I actually tried twice to crochet in circle before giving up because I couldn’t see the loops at all

  2. Oh my gosh, Delphine! Your youkai is so freaking adorable!

    When I was younger, my grandmother had taught me how to crochet as I have seen her do it a thousand times (maybe less). It looked easy when she had done it but hard as hell for me. I don’t think I quite grasped the concept of it that much? I don’t know.

    Hmm, I need to get a planner myself for this upcoming semester. I’m hoping the school will have freebie ones.

    1. I wish my granny taught me too! Crochet isn’t that hard actually, it’s all about patience, memorizing how to make stitches and some quick math too sometimes haha

      The planners I had ever got at school as freebies were never nice :(

  3. Oh, my! That youkai is just amazingly adorable! It certainly looks fluffy, so it’s good that you made your own instead of buying one that’s not as fluffy. It’s neat how crocheting allows people to create even things such as plushies! :D

  4. Oh my god it’s fluffball! It’s really cute! I really love how you did the tail. <3 My mom used to make fluffy animal characters as well, but I don't know what's the name to the technique … ;v;
