北京欢迎了我

Hi, it’s been a while. It’s been already almost 3 months that I’m here, in Beijing! Everything is fine although I still have stuggle getting used to some things like people clearing their throats loudly to spit on the ground afterwards or cringy public toilets… At least, I like this city more than what I expected to and that’s pretty cool!

A lot of things happened since my arrival obviously, but in a nutshell : I took the time to visit the most touristic spots of the city during the first week before school started, then I celebrated my 21st birthday with my classmates and also my friends, went to YG Family’s concert last month. I managed to break/lose 2 phones meanwhile (+ forgot my camera in France), so that’s why I don’t have many pictures for this post…

Concerning school, I’m still amazed at how a language can gather so much people from so many different countries in one single place. The only thing which is a shame is that foreign students don’t get much opportunity to intereact with Chinese students, unless you really go for it. We don’t really mix together that much in my opinion. My Chinese got better just by being here, I’m glad that the effects of immersion are showing off even though I still have a long way to go! I also got a lot better at spoken Japanese too after meeting so many Japanese friends, starting with my roommate, gave me a good environment to practice.

Recently, I got a bicycle from a Mexican classmate since she had a spare one that her friend who left last semester gave her. It’s been more than 10 years that I didn’t ride one because I never really needed one in Paris but in Beijing, everybody has one. They’re so common that it’s very cheap (you can get a brand new basic bicycle for maybe 25€) and noboby wants to steal them anyway. Plus, it helps when I’m running late to class!

This is the nth reboot of this blog but it feels good to write after such a long time.
