Versatile Blogger Award Nomination

Rezina nominated me for the Versatile Blogger Award last week, thank you ;u; I haven’t been really active for a while but I’m happy that she thought about me /o\ Here goes nothing!

When you consider nominating a fellow blogger for the Versatile Blogger Award, consider the quality of the writing, the uniqueness of the subjects covered, the level of love displayed in the words on the virtual page. Or, of course, the quality of the photographs and the level of love displayed in the taking of them.

RULES –

• Thank the person who nominated you
• Include a link to their blog
• Tell the person who nominated you 7 facts about you
• Select 15 blogs/bloggers that you have recently discovered or follow regularly

1. I used to have a not-so-small mole on the middle of my nose

I had that mole for maybe 16 years before undergoing surgery to remove it 1.5 year ago. I got it around 6 years old, it was small at first but it kinda grew up with me and it was getting bigger and bigger. It wasn’t cancerous or anything though. Since it was on my nose and had a considerable size, I couldn’t get rid of it during my teenage years (puberty etc.) because the dermatologists feared that the scar might not heal well. Ever since I removed it, I feel more confident in myself. I’m less reluctant to appear on pictures haha! The surgery left me a scar though, but it’s not that visible.

2. I’ve never watched Titanic

And I don’t intend to, unless I want to.

3. Durians and chicken feet are things I like to eat

I love stinky tofu too :p I haven’t tried natto yet, I wonder how it tastes like!

4. I’m of Chinese-descent but my parents aren’t from China

It’s always troublesome to explain my origins to people sometimes lol My Mom is Malaysian and my Dad Laotian but “ethnically” they are Chinese. We speak Mandarin, Cantonese and French at home etc. All my Dad’s relatives live in France except an aunt in the US and all my Mom’s relatives live in Malaysia. I went there 4 times for vacation, the most recent trip was during summer 2014 🙂

5. I love singing

But I never said I was good at it 😉 I’m ALWAYS down for some KTV! When I go to karaoke with friends, I’m the one who sings the most generally. I make it a rule to sing with at least once more person together though, otherwise it’s no fun and pointless. At some point, I’ve even considered taking singing lessons but it’s too expensive 🙁

6. I share a bunk bed with my younger sister

It has always been like that as far as I remember, we switched a few times between top and bottom bunk but I’m now occupying the top bunk :3

7. I did a retail internship for a brand of French chocolate two years ago

No need to say I gained weight after that lol It was a really good experience though! I have more knowledge about chocolate now hihi

That’s all! I nominate Amano and Alice if they happen to see this post haha :’D A life update post should come soon after this 🙂

I’ve had tons of moles too, that I ended up removing. Most of them showed up because I wasn’t a very clean face/neck washer… (gross I know) I went to a Korean lady though, at her house and she lasered them all off. Suspicious now that I think about it… haha

I love chicken feet! The look grossed me out at first, until I put it in my mouth and now I don’t care LOL. I’ve never had Durians or stinky tofu but nattos aren’t my thing. My dad loves them though.

How come most of your family lives in France?

Haha! My skin is prone to moles too, I have another 2 on the face 🙂 I got mine removed in a hospital. Since it was too big to be lasered, the surgeon just removed it but didn’t stich me up. So I had a hole on my nose, litteraly. I had to wait for the wound to heal naturally (I wore band-aids on my nose at first lol) and it took a month approximately!

Yay ♥ I don’t think I was ever grossed by chicken feet, I just found it weird that it was edible. Stinky tofu is really good, the smell is horrible though! But it’s worth the trouble 😀 People tend to have extreme opinions on durian, it’s either they love it (like me) or they totally hate it! It’s true that the smell is quite strong though! A Japanese friend suggested that I try natto but it’s kinda unavailable here so maybe some time soon 🙂

My Dad and his family are actually war refugees. You know when the Vietnam War happened in the 70s, it affected neighboring countries like Laos. A number of people fleeing the war were rescued by occidental countries such as France or the US for example, where a Laotian community is present 🙂

I can relate to #4 in a way! I’m a US citizen, but I’m full-Korean, but my dad is Anglo and my mum’s Korean 😀 Plus, I only lived in the states for one year as a baby, so when people ask me where I’m from, I say Korea, and they all go WTFFFFF???!?!?!? And I’m just like, “Dude. Expats. EXPATS. And we’re in a global community now, so anything’s possible. Psssssh.”

    Anyway, that chocolate internship sounds awesome. Sure, I’d have gained a lot of weight, but I’m addicted to chocolate, so it just sounds great, haha! XD;

I totally get you :’D When I was abroad in China and I said I was French, ppl were all like “Ah but you don’t look French at all!” I mean, thanks for the info but I’m fully aware that I look Asian <_> and most of the time the only explanations they find is that I’m mixed (which I’m totally not) or I’ve been adopted by French people… Sometimes people are quite ignorant about immigration and expatriation in general.

It was so worth it though ;o; in order to know the products better so we could advise the customers better, they let us taste a lot of chocolate!

Aww, thanks for sharing this! Well done on being nominated <3

My sister had a mole thing too on her face that she got removed, it left a little scar on her also but it's not as obvious in pictures!

I hadn't seen titanic until like last year? I missed out but it wasn't THAT great, I cried and felt a little emotional though.

I know what you mean about number 4, I can relate, I'm filipino/spanish/and my mom has like some Chinese somewhere down the line but it shows in her appearance and it's just complicated.

Ooo, share your chocolate knowledge so I have an excuse to go out and buy a lotta chocolates!

      Thank you Pauline 🙂

Yup, the scar is almost invisible! The dermatologists I’ve seen tended to be against the surgery, saying that I’d have a big scar or that it’ll change the shape of my nose but I got none of that. Having a mole on an unusual place of an unusual size gave me some kind of complex over the years… I’m glad it’s over now!

I see! I know I’ll watch it someday when I’m in the mood but people tend to judge when I tell them I haven’t watched it (I was told I lacked of “culture” once…) and sometimes it just makes me not want to watch it haha

What an interesting mix 😀 I think that having a multi-cultural background is a strength! Although I made a rejection of my origins when I was younger, I learned while growing up that it was something that I should embrace because it’s part of who I am.

I should have a post about chocolate in the future 🙂 It’s actually a great post idea, thank you ♥

Wow, bunk beds! I remember as a kid fighting over the top bunk when friends would stay over.. although when my friends weren’t around I always slept on the bottom 😛 I don’t know why I cared about the top bunk only when friends were staying over.

Funny story hahaha! I switched bunks twice with my sister and I think that the current bottom bunk is more confortable (we got various bunk beds over time). Our current bunk bed is too high so the top bunk is closer to the ceiling than the previous one. I ended up bumping my head on the ceiling several times at the beginning but also when I came back from abroad since I wasn’t used to bunk beds anymore :’D

Oh my gosh, was the mole removal painful afterwards? I have a bunch I’d like to get rid of on my arms and legs!

I LOVE chicken feet! I hate durian though. I’ve never tried it, but the smell of it turns me off so bad.

Jealous about the French chocolate internship! I absolutely LOVE chocolate (well, only dark chocolate to be honest).

      September 30, 2015 at 11:25 pm

No it wasn’t really painful but it did felt weird because I literaly had a hole on my nose but for arms or legs, it’s a lot different and it should be fine! 😀

CHICKEN FEET IS LIFE! Durian has a really strong smells that lasts forever so I understand how you feel XD

Dark chocolate is the best imo hihi, I especially think so ever since that internship. I used to loathe it before but now I prefer it over milk chocolate which is a bit too sweet sometimes and white chocolate, which is not even chocolate :’)

Wow, a French Chocolate Internship? That’s awesome! I never had bunk beds 🙁 Though my best friend and her sister did. Loved them!

      September 30, 2015 at 11:36 pm

Yup, it was 😀 I think I’d prefer not to sleep in a bunk bed anymore at my age lol I have no choice but to do it since our room isn’t big enough 🙁
