I’m opening a new monthly column on my blog! It’s been a while I wanted to blog about nails, nail art and my work. Every month, I will post all the nails that I have done and comment them.
Quick summary about my journey as a nail artist: I’ve always been interested in nails and nail polish since I was young. A bit before the pandemic, I started playing with gel polishes and started doing my nails/nail art as a hobby.
After many trials and errors, I decided to enroll a beginner nail tech training in 2023. At that time, I was also fed up with my work, so I was also considering doing this professionally as a full-time job. In the end, it didn’t happen, but I’m still doing nails lol.
Right now, I’m not really taking clientele. I just have two friends who come monthly to get their nails done and their acquaintances sometimes. I also have a nail tech friend I met at the training, who lets me practice on her hands once in a while and vice versa. My boyfriend wants to have his nails done from time to time too!
Back in June, I also started taking press on nails custom orders on Instagram and launched my online shop (although it’s quite empty for now, due to lack of time). So yeah, basically, it’s been like that haha!
Golden chrome croc
We kick off the month with a gold chrome textured set I did for H. my nail tech friend in her private studio in Paris.
I applied square medium length Gel-X extensions on her, it was the first time I got to practice after doing a training specifically dedicated to that back in October. Few of my friends are interested in nail enhancements, so I didn’t have anyone but myself to practice on until then. The application was so clean, I was proud of myself!
On hindsight, I think it would have been better to use a gel with more viscosity than the one I used to execute the vision better, haha. One thing I like every time I do H’s nails is that it’s pushing me out of my comfort zone.
Products used: Aprés Nail • Gel-X extensions (Square Medium), BE MY GEMS • The Black, The Gel Bottle • Chrome Pigment (Blonde), Shop Lili Creuk • Black Blob 3D gel
Mononoke
My beloved Q. (my boyfriend) has been bugging me for months for a Mononoke set on his pretty hands. I tried to experiment and make intricate 3D gel sculpting for the first time! It wasn’t easy, but I think I did a good job. I will definitely make more characters in the future!
The designs mainly reference the outfit of the Medecine Seller (Kusuriuri), the hero of the series.
Honestly, he’s one of by best walking ads! He always carry a bunch of my business cards on him.
Products used: D.nail • Carving gels, DGEL • Painting gels, Vendeeni • Red cat eye gel polish, Shop Lili Creuk • Black Blob 3D gel, Chrome pigment (Bling)
Wicked
My friend J. is a big fan of Wicked, so with the film’s release, she naturally wanted a matching set. I personally don’t know much about it, so I tried my best to capture the essence of Elphaba and Glinda with her help! I took inspiration from the movie poster with the branches to make the key point of the set.
Products used: Praya Nails • Self Builder (Nude), BE MY GEMS • The Black, DGEL • Painting gels, MPA • Metallic Silver painting gel, Marvelous cat eye polishes a friend got me in Vietnam (lol), charms…
Galaxy Swirls
Swirls are honestly the last thing I would paint, but for this set, it made sense, I guess? My friend S. is always about a good cat eye polish, chrome, black, purple and pink.
Actually, the reference picture she showed me was AI she found on Pinterest, which sucks… but we both were so focused on the design that we didn’t realize until the day of the appointement. Because there were six fingers, ugh… I reinterpreted the design my way. It doesn’t really look like the inspo and that’s also great!
Products used: Praya Nails • Self Builder (Nude), BE MY GEMS • The Black, MPA • Metallic Silver painting gel, DGEL • Mini Bold Galaxy (Neptune)
Cherry Blossom
Not really the season but I had to get this order done lol. I was commissionned by a good friend to make these two sets of press on nails a few months ago, but since it wasn’t urgent I worked on other orders first… until she asked me about it, oops.
I used the Function of Vex • Aura Melt Ombre Powder palette to do the ombré on the first set and I love it so much! I’ve been avoiding airbrush for doing ombré nails and sponge is quite tedious sometimes, so powdered pigments have a been a lifesafer.
Products used: Aprés Nail • Gel-X extensions (Round Short), DGEL • Cotton Candy Collection (DS.172 Cornflower), VALLA • Pink Soup Collection (VS01), Function of Vex • Aura Melt Ombre Powder, cherry blossom flakes
That’s all for December, see you in 2025 for the next digest!
